Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh is seeking a business-minded, detail-oriented, and proactive student to serve as a Fund Development Assistant Intern. This role is ideal for students studying Business or Business Administration who want hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, event planning, relationship management, and operational support.

The intern will work closely with the Engagement Manager to support Habitat Newburgh’s fund development efforts, including donation data entry, event logistics, and community outreach.  The position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week over a 15-week semester, totaling 150 hours for 3 academic credits.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Fund Development Team
  • Support entry and organization of donor and volunteer information in our database
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising efforts (e.g., preparing materials, tracking donations, event logistics)
  • Table at community outreach events, fairs, and build sites to represent Habitat and share giving opportunities
  • Assist with donor stewardship tasks, including thank-you letters and sponsor packet assembly
  • Support the planning and execution of key Habitat events including:
    • Volunteer BBQ (September 13, 2025) - Attendance mandatory 
    • Building Houses, Building Hope Breakfast (October 21, 2025) - Attendance mandatory 
    • And more!
  • Help track and organize incoming gifts, event registrations, and sponsorships
    Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for donor engagement and community partnerships
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Business or Business Administration program
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, or event coordination
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets; experience with data entry is a plus
  • Comfortable engaging with the public and working independently
  • Reliable transportation to attend in-person events when needed
